ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF WORSHIP


Level:  Full-Time Minister (exempt

Supervisor: Senior Pastor

Hours: Full-Time


Role:  The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor to help shepherd the church in all pastoral matters, with a special focus on leading congregational worship. Associate Pastor duties will include pastoral care, discipling, counseling, and teaching/preaching (as needed).


 In the role of the Worship Leader, duties are to exalt Christ while assisting/encouraging the congregation to worship and sing with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. In that effort, this position will lead, plan, and consistently evaluate the music ministry and other worship service activities to help achieve that goal.  


GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Continually strive to exemplify the Christlike character traits found in 1 Timothy 3:2-3 and Titus 1:7-8


Associate Pastor:

  • Spend time developing relationships with church members and guests 
  • Assist in providing pastoral care for the entire congregation 
  • Personally seek to be a disciple-maker
  • Be able and willing to accurately teach the Bible when needed (small or large groups) 
  • Embrace the church’s mission, further the church’s vision, and actively promote unity among the body
  • Attend staff meetings and assist the staff in accomplishing church-wide goals
  • Stay current in personal and professional growth to develop and refine leadership qualities of the church body 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor 

Worship Leader: 

  • Serve as lead worshiper in worship services, or oversee lay worship leaders with approval from the Senior Pastor 
  • Build necessary teams needed to carry out all areas of Christ-centered worship
  • Develop and integrate the musical and technical gifts within our faith family in a way that supports the goal of congregational worship 
  • Plan the corporate worship services in coordination with the Senior Pastor. Services will be prayerfully organized with conceptual forethought, so all aspects of the service are executed in a God-honoring way. During corporate worship, the singing of the congregation is the focus and the musicians and singers on the worship team are for the support of the congregation. 
  • Ensure all songs, music, and media are theologically sound and appropriate 
  • Oversee all audio, video, slides, and live-stream production of Sunday morning worship 
  • Stay current in personal and professional growth to provide quality worship experiences 

EDUCATION

Some college or seminary preferred. At least 3-7 years of church ministry experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of Biblical theology 
  • Experienced Bible teacher 
  • Positive interpersonal and relational skills 
  • Skilled musician - ideally both vocally and instrumentally 
  • Skilled in audio, video, and lighting technology 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • A team player 
  • Ability to practically solve problems, organize people, and manage teams 
  • Successful goal-setting skills and ability to execute steps to achieve those goals 
  • Desired competency in the following software: 
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
  • Planning Center 
  • ProPresenter 
  • PC or MAC Operating System 
  • Skilled in audio, video, or graphics editing software (Adobe CS Suite, Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc)
